Stevenson uses language to create a mysterious and unsettling atmosphere in Hyde’s laboratory. Steven gradually builds up an element of horror by slowly describing the revealing and describing Hyde’s laboratory. Stevenson describes the lab as dodgy “…tables laden with chemical apparatus…”.
