The Demise of Dr Lanyon
1.’Dapper’ shows that the man was fairly wealthy and has good manners. It shows that he was brought up in a rich, maybe posh family. It says that he had a good job with high pay, as a result of his attire.
2. ‘Pale’ is the opposite of ‘healthy’ or ‘red-faced’ and it shows that it describes that it might be another man or something happened to the man in the first extract. In they second extract, it shows that the man was in a very bad physical and mental state.
3a. When it says ‘the rosy man had grown pale…’ It shows that something significant that gravely affected him, most probably mentally, made him in a really bad physical state.
3b. ‘The rosy man had grown pale; his flesh had fallen away; he was visibly balder and older…” Shows something in his life happened which changed him.

- When she looked out the window, she saw an “aged and beautiful gentleman with white hair… advancing to meet him another and very small gentleman.”
- The “aged gentleman” was very polite but she recognised the other shorter man, which she had a dislike for. The shorter man slightly exposed a “heavy cane”, which suggested that he was going to use it.
- All of a sudden, Mr Hyde “broke out in a great flame of anger”. Shockingly, Mr Hyde clubbed him and then trampled all over him. Mr Hyde kept on beating him, and at this sight, the maid fainted.

Dear Diary,
At least we are free, but I knew it had to come with a price. I think I done a good job with escaping, but I should have thought of a plan when we are free. Where are we going to run to? Where are we going to hide? All of this was hard especially as our people were known slaves. The spanish somehow found our hiding olace and the fighting was constant. I was thinking to myself if we had acctually escaped? The spanish were relentless not letting go, they were harsh. But then again they were the ones who put us in this situation. Bur rumour was coming around that we finally thought of a new tactic, and we could actually beat them.
Gothic Setting Part 2
It was an abandoned, rundown building. Known to the ‘Ghost Hunters’ Smashed in windows. Tables and chairs bloodied over knocked over and broken. I walk through the corridor with bloodied hand marks all over the walls. There where rooms on either side, all with a broken beds and wheelchairs. I came up to the biggest room, the operation room, and coming from it, the most unbearable stench streaming from it. It made my eyes water, it was that bad. Laying there on the hospital bed immersed in blood was a rotting body.
