Imagery depends on what we can see in our imagination.

“…explode beneath the feet of running children…”

This is a strong image because in war, children and women are the most vulnerable and delicate. Now this image shows the extremity of the situation, and that either the oppressors are sly in their methods of attack, that it’s got to the point that even children are getting slaughtered. Or it could imply that because of war, children don’t recognise danger. This image would affect anyone, and make them think deeply.
